The little known SECRET to making Great Baked Potatoes
Baked Potatoes. It seems so simple. So why does it seem to be so hard to get perfectly fluffy potatoes? This method will show you how to get perfect baked potatoes every time.
DIRECTIONS:
1 Start with Russet potatoes.
2 in a large bowl, add 1/2 cup of water and 2 Tablespoons of table salt. Mix the salt and water together to form a brine.
3 Use a fork to poke holes into each potato. Poke the potatoes about 6 - 8 times
4 Place the potatoes on a wire rack placed in a baking sheet
5 Place the potatoes into an oven that has been preheated to 450 degrees Fahrenheit for about 45 - 60 minutes.
6 Pull the potatoes out and use an instant read thermometer to check the internal temperature. You are looking for the internal temperature to be 205 degrees. If they are not 205 degrees, place them back into the oven until they are.
7 Pull the potatoes out and confirm that they have reached 205 degrees. If they have, brush them with vegetable ( or bacon grease), but not with butter. Butter will keep the skin from getting crispy.
8 Place the potatoes back into the 450 degree oven for another 10 minutes
9 Pull the potatoes out and prepare to serve right away
